10 – Kasta Tomb in Greece
Also known as the Amphipolis Tomb, the Kasta Tomb in Greece was discovered in the Kasta mound in 2012, and first entered in 2014. Experts have dated the tomb back to 4th Century BC and although it is not yet certain who is buried in the tomb, it is speculated that it may be either a late member of the Macedonian royal family or a rich Macedonian noble.
9 – Puma Punku in Bolivia
Located near Tiwanaku in Bolivia, the Puma Punku is a large terraced mound that is lined with stone blocks. These blocks have a vast array of complex shaped carvings and perfectly drilled holes that do not seem possible in the era that they were created. The complexity of the shapes suggests that ancient civilizations did in fact have access to modern tools and technology. It is believed that these structures could be anywhere up to 17000 years old.
8 – Masuda no Iwafune – Japan
In the quaint village of Asuka in Japan, are a range of unusual carved stone monuments that aren’t fitting with the Buddhist style that the village is known for. The largest of them, known as the “Rock Ship” is about 11 meters long and 8 meters wide. It actually looks like a spaceship and no-one knows how it got there.
7 – Goseck Circle – Germany
This Neolithic structure is located in the Burgenlandkreis district of Germany. The construction of this masterpiece has been dated back to the 49th Century BC, and it has been open to visitors since 2005.
6 – Georgia Guidestones – USA
Often referred to as the “American Stonehenge”, the Georgia Guidestones is made of 6 granite slabs which are inscribed with guidelines from 8 different languages, depicting 10 commandments for “an age of reason”. The monument is over 19 feet tall and weighs over 237,746 pounds.
5 – Giant Stone Head – Guatemala
This giant stone head was discovered over half a century ago in a jungle of Guatemala. Unfortunately revolutionaries destroyed and disfigured the head not long after it was discovered, and the mystery of its origin and meaning still remains.
4 – Gobekli Tepe – Turkey
Gobekli Tepe is an archeological site which sits on a mountain ridge about 760 meters above sea level. With hundreds of T-shaped pillars and rectangular rooms, this site is one of the most intriguing locations ever discovered and is a popular site for archeologists.
3 – Sayhuite Monolith – Peru
This huge stone monolith contains over 200 figures, such as felines, frogs and reptiles. It isn’t clear who built it and the mystery of its meaning is still unsolved. Today it is a popular tourist attraction in Peru.
2 – Teotihuacan’s Pyramid of the Sun – Mexico
Named as the largest building in Teotihuacan, this ancient pyramid is 220 meters long, 230 meters wide and 65.5 meters high. A few artifacts have been discovered over the years, but there is still much more to learn about this mysterious monument.
1 – Padmanabhaswamy Temple Vault B – India
The Padmanabhaswamy Temple in India is known as the wealthiest place of worship in the world. The 6th door inside the temple guards Vault B, which is claimed to be the only part of the temple that has never been entered. Legend says that whoever opens the doors of Vault B “will be met with disastrous results”.
Whether you have an interest in history or simply like to learn about new things, this video will definitely leave you in awe.
